What is your favorite beach getaway memory?
Packing for a beach trip involves thinking about essentials for sun protection, comfort, and enjoyment by the water.
Here’s a comprehensive list to ensure you’re prepared for a fantastic beach getaway:
Pack Essentials: Don’t forget to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, beach towels, swimwear, and beach chairs or blankets. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the water, bring floatation devices or snorkeling gear.
- Sunscreen: Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
- Hat: A wide-brimmed hat or a baseball cap can provide additional protection for your face and scalp from the sun.
- Sunglasses: Opt for sunglasses with UV protection to shield your eyes from the sun’s glare.
- Swimwear: Pack swimsuits or trunks suitable for swimming and lounging on the beach.
- Towels: Bring beach towels for drying off after swimming and lounging on the sand.
- Beach Blanket or Mat: A beach blanket or mat provides a clean and comfortable surface for relaxing on the sand.
- Beach Umbrella or Tent: If you prefer shade, consider bringing a beach umbrella or tent to create a sheltered area.
- Water: Stay hydrated by bringing plenty of water to drink throughout the day.
- Snacks: Pack light snacks like fruits, nuts, or granola bars to keep you fueled during your beach day.

My favorite beach getaway is Wells Main Lafayette Resort
My Bucket list for years was to spend a few days staying on the beach, and boy someday do I have a lost key story for you. I have so many favorite memories of being at the ocean with my kiddos (back to the losing my car keys in the ocean memory) and taking my twins and just letting them run on the big empty beach as I listened to the waves. That was bliss.
A beach trip sounds like a wonderful way to relax and unwind! I know the hassle of prepping makes it exhausting but it is so worth it. Surprising hearing that from me who is 3/4 home body.
Here are some tips to make the most of your beach getaway, Some of these I”ve learned the hard way:
- Stay Hydrated: Remember to drink plenty of water, especially if you’ll be spending time in the sun. Pack a cooler with refreshing beverages like water, sports drinks, or fruit-infused water to keep you hydrated throughout the day.
- Bring Snacks: Pack snacks such as fresh fruit, nuts, granola bars, and sandwiches to keep you fueled throughout the day. Opt for foods that are easy to transport and won’t spoil in the heat.
- Protect Your Skin: Apply sunscreen with a high SPF regularly, especially if you’re swimming or participating in water activities. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you’re sweating or getting wet.
- Stay Safe in the Water: Swim only in designated swimming areas, and be aware of any currents or rip tides. If you’re not a strong swimmer, consider wearing a life jacket or staying in shallow water.
- Enjoy Beach getaway Activities: Take advantage of beach activities such as swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, beach volleyball, or building sandcastles. Bring along beach games like frisbee or paddleball for added fun.
- Relax and Unwind: Don’t forget to take time to relax and soak up the sun! Bring a good book, listen to music, or simply lounge on the beach and enjoy the sounds of the waves.
- Stay Sun-Safe: Seek shade during the hottest parts of the day, usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wear protective clothing, such as lightweight long-sleeved shirts and hats, to shield your skin from the sun.
- Clean Up After Yourself: Be sure to clean up after yourself and dispose of any trash properly. Leave the beach cleaner than you found it by picking up any litter you see.
- Watch the Sunset: End your beach day by watching the sunset over the water. It’s a beautiful way to unwind and appreciate the natural beauty of the beach.
