Dandelion Chronicles: The Sequel Grows

For some reason, my post The Dandy Dandelion has been getting a lot of traction on Pinterest lately. I decided since this post was originally written in 2019 it was probably time for an update. Over the last 5 years, I have learned even more about the dandelion and I’d like to think my blog writing skills have improved since then.

A humble and delicate yet resilient dandelion, Showing us resilience, hope, and unexpected beauty. Often dismissed as a mere weed, this unassuming flower holds within its golden petals a wealth of stories, secrets, and symbolism. Its vibrant yellow blooms dot the landscape like drops of sunshine. It can thrive in the harshest of environments.

A flower that doesn’t give up but each flower gives off an abundance of seeds. This is why the dandelion is more than just a survivor; it is a symbol of hope and renewal. In folklore and mythology, the dandelion has been revered as a harbinger of wishes granted and dreams realized. Let’s explore the boundless potential of the dandelion.

Dandelion Poem

Some Feedback I’ve gotten from readers:

” A weed is any plant growing where you don’t want it, so dandelions (as well as many other plants) can be weeds, whether they’re edible or not!”

” You should try Dandelion Coffee or roasted dandelion root tea.”  “Dandelion greens are best harvested in the spring before they first bloom.”

“Dandelions are also the first food for honey bees when they come out of hibernation. So DO NOT use weed killers in your yard until the other flowers bloom!”

“Mom would put the leaves in salads, or cook them in a stew; also made dandelion croquettes. My dad made wine, which was delicious!I take the flowers and fry them.”

“Dandelions are an especially nutritious plant for guinea pigs as well, the flowers are a sweet treat, the leaves and stems, healthy greens, and the roots are full of beneficial nutrients as well.”
