The Meaning Behind The Name

Those that have known me awhile  know I have struggled for years with a history of chronic depression. I loved my children and family, but life continued to be a struggle to stay balanced. It always seemed as if something was missing.

After finding light at the end of the tunnel would always seem to come another storm drowning out the light. It was not an instantaneous process to get a grip on. I still have to fight the depression by trying to live my life the best I can. Its important to take things day by day while feeling blessed for all I have in my life. My desire is to help others who are struggling to find that light. I want to be able to help someone find hope when they feel hopeless.

The day we will never forget

In 2001 I found myself finally on a journey to harmony and happiness. I was going back to college and moved into a single family house the end of that summer. Then came that terrible day. The day of September 11, 2001

9/11/01 was a day I am sure you all remember as clearly as I do. My older children were off at school. I was a divorced mom driving myself to the university window down, happy music on the radio. Suddenly the music stopped with the breaking news of the tragedy happening. Life can change in an instant. What we must do is try find out what we want our life to be like. Then we need to take steps at making it happen.

At that time I became owner of the house I had just moved into a few months prior. It was a dream of homeownership I had never thought would come true. A month after 9/11 I found myself engaged.

Expecting the unexpected

On Thanksgiving day of 2001 we found out we were expecting. In January thinking we had miscarried we were surprised to find out it was twins. During the time of the impending arrival of the babies I was on bed rest for part of the pregnancy. Managing homemaking from the bed takes a lot of help. Online shopping saved my sanity.

I took to buying some of our baby items online (mostly eBay) and read lots of books from Amazon.com.  I read about how to survive bed rest, twin pregnancies. How to handle newborn twin babies crying at the same time. I had plenty of novels to escape into when I got sick of the same four walls of my bedroom.

We had twins to add to our family the summer of 2002. One baby boy and one baby girl. I had 4 kids from my first marriage. Three of my older kids were under the age of 18 and living with us. I was the classic minivan driving soccer mom. I could wear the title proudly since one of my middle children was active in soccer.

My The Harmony Collection is born

It was at this time that I decided to start looking into a work at home business. I wanted to help my husband with the income. From 2001 to 2006 I only ‘dabbled’ with selling online. I felt at the time Harmony had to be part of my business name. My store on eBay was The Harmony Collection. The reason I chose the word collection is I found I had many collections of stuff.

A bad habit of mine was I also tended to be a pack rat. It was easily apparent that it was time to weed out things that hopefully someone else would add to their collection. I had so much stuff of all different types. However the name” this and that” and ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ was already taken.

The user name multiplyblessedmom is self-explanatory. I was blessed with six kids the last two being a multiple pregnancy . I am now blessed with 2 grandsons and granddaughter as well.

Seeking Serenity & Harmony in this crazy life

Moving on to SEEKINGSERENITYANDHARMONY should be self-explanatory
right? A mom who’s had a lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety. A
mom of multiple kids. A pack rat who is trying to break her habit of hoarding. Life was and sometimes is a bit crazy and chaotic.

The story continues with… HARMONY HEN HOUSE (located on the Backyard Chickens website) and HARMONY HOMESTEAD
