    2019 Harmony Homestead Happenings

    Harmony Homestead Happenings It is the first day of spring and yesterday my rooster found his crow. The days are getting longer and I am finding one duck egg a day. Now if only the hens would start laying again. We had eggs due to hatch over the weekend. It was not a huge success. I did have one poult who is seeming to be healthy and strong and another one who is struggling.     Spring Fever: Hatching Chicks Sprouting Seeds Tapping Trees

    Its that time of year, the days are getting longer. Spring is in the air the snow and ice are melting. It is time for hatching chicks, sprouting seedlings and tapping trees. We have only about a 1/4 of an inch of sap so far but it is supposed to start running good soon. The turkeys in the incubator are due to hatch any time now.     Talking Turkey on The Harmony Homestead

    Talking Turkey This year we decided to focus on adding turkeys to the homestead. I didn’t waste any time I found some turkey eggs for sale and went to pick them up. It has been a few weeks since they have been in the incubator. I candled them and it appears the majority of  the eggs in the incubator are developing.  One of the batches of eggs I bought are a cross between white midget and blue slate.  They are due to hatch just before St. Patricks day.
