Five minute Friday is a linkup where we are given a writing prompt. We spend 5 minutes with the timer on and free write. This weeks word prompt is “Someday”
“Someday , Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high, there’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby. Someday, somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true. It’s a place where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that’s where you’ll find me.”~ “Someday Over the Rainbow” is a well-known song originally sung by Judy Garland in the classic movie “The Wizard of Oz” (1939).
How many times do I say “Someday I will…” In thinking about the future am I remembering to take time to enjoy and live in today? One thing for sure in this life change is constant. Life is also very unpredictable. I do not know what the future holds, I can have goals or visions of how I want someday to be. But I hope I’m remembering to take time to be present here and now and not wish my life away thinking there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that will make everything all better.
Yes, good reminder, to be present. God is good right now, in this moment, the birds singing, the Friday afternoon traffic humming, the cool breeze floating into my window, my fellow FMFers sharing their feelings, their faith, their thoughts, that move me along and lift me up to realize I am not alone and I am also read and understood. Someday I’m gonna be the King,
with Elvis as my guide,
but yowza, baby, here’s the thing…
even Elvis died,
and it seems like kind of waste,
working that hard for some Someday,
and maybe get a little taste
before it all gets took away.
Going hard to be the best
will make me miss some breakfast beers,
so I’ll maybe give those dreams a rest
so it all don’t end in tears
and just enjoy the life I’ve got,
and the Price by which I have been bought.
