The letter X is notorious for being one of the least used letters. in fields like mathematics it often represents an unknown variable. In everyday language, X often stands as a symbol for the unknown or as a mark to signify a spot, like on a treasure map. It’s also the symbol for a kiss in written correspondence, adding a touch of affection to our messages.
What is so fascinating about the letter x?
Here are a few words that start with X.
- xanthin a coloring matter that comes from yellow flowers. Found in most body tissues and fluids as well as derived from stimulants such as caffiene. It is converted to uric acid. Used to produce medications and pesticides. It kind of scares me reading that an ingredient used to make pesticides is also used to make medicines.
- xenophobic fear or hatred of others from a different culture
- xenodiagnosis (oh this was interesting or gross depending on how you look at it)

X is the 2nd letter in the word eXhausted which is a word I use to describe myself a lot. With multiple sleep disorders and feeling super stressed I rarely wake up feeling rested. When trying to optimize mental wellness sleep is the first thing to target in my opinion. When we get to the letter Z I will be talking more about the importance of getting a good nights Zzzzz’s.
