Good day, Turmeric On Valentines Day, I was out and about running errands and stumbled upon a yummy supplement. There were 8 candies in there, about the size of a peanut M&M. They were a tasty way to get a turmeric supplement. I was really surprised at how good they tasted. Do you use turmeric for a dietary supplement? These were gluten-free so they were safe for me to eat and I don’t regret one bite of that candy-coated supplement. Are you a tea-drinker? I have been drinking more tea and less coffee lately. Here are a few…
I am sure you have been hearing a lot about herbs and their uses as natural remedies. Wanting To Learn More About Herbs My oldest daughter used to tease me about how old and unused my culinary herbs and spices were. I never used to add anything to my cooking. She taught me how much better things were when accented by herbal seasonings. Over the last few years I have been interested when hearing about herbs as medicine for our animals and ourselves. I started looking around to see what I could find online to teach myself since I…
A Quick mention: 5 of my favorite products I had a coupon given to me. I thought it was buy one get one for Pearls olives. When I looked at it closer it was for one free. No buying one needed. I looked at the choices and since I have been trying to incorporate more garlic in my diet I opted for the Pearls specialties garlic stuffed queen olives. I found them so good. Better than I had expected. Perfect combination in just one stuffed olive. I expected them to be overpowering but they were the perfect balance. If…
Spring is in the air Good Friday, Palm Sunday and Maple Sunday…. Spring is in the air. We had another hatch this weekend. 2 chicks that were due on Good Friday hatched on Saturday. It was the perfect weekend to boil some sap down into maple syrup… One flock of chickens was happy to dig around in the bit of ground they found not covered in snow I don’t know about you but weekends seem to go by way too fast. Next week April Fools falls on Easter Sunday that sounds like it might be interesting.
Think Spring. I don’t know about you but it seems it has been an extra long winter. Winter arrived quicker than I was ready for and I hear we have another big white storm coming our way. I am more than ready for spring. I don’t want to wish time away but I do long for green grass and blooming flowers. I’ve had some health struggles this winter perhaps that has made it seem like an extra long winter. I’m recovering and activity is restricted. I had to bring some spring inside. I set up the incubators and tested fertility…
Mug Love Exchange Thanks to my friend and blogger Stefanie at Lexie Loo, Lily, Liam & Dylan too I learned of a thing called Mug Love Exchange. The exchange is organized by Stephanie at Wife, Mommy, Me. It sounded like a really fun idea. I signed up to try it out and was paired with Danielle Flowers. I had fun picking out a mug with inspirational quotes since she said that was what she loved. When I received my package from Danielle I wished I had ordered more items to go with her mug. Not tonight reading Stefanie’s…
2017 Spring Chickens I think of the old phrase about being a ‘spring chicken’ and wish I felt more like one. I’m currently struggling with a lot of pain and inflammation. This coincides with fighting constant fatigue. One of the bright spots is seeing adorable little chicks, ducklings and turkeys hatching. I attempted to hatch goslings but that was a failure. Hatching season has almost come to a conclusion here on the homestead for this year. Here are a few pictures to brighten your day. 3 little turkeys I have several chicken keeper web pages I follow, tonight I’d like…
Depending on where you are while reading this you are likely ready to see spring flowers. Done with the snow and ready to see the grass growing even if it does mean mowing. Here on the Harmony Homestead we are more than ready to see the mountains of snow melt in our yard. Thinking Spring Last week our first chicks of the year hatched. They are just backyard mix, no special breeds watching them does brighten the days. Today my youngest daughter and I went venturing in every farm store we crossed paths with while doing errands. We came home…
