May The Fourth Be With You
May The Fourth Be With You
When did it start that on May 4th your social media feed was filled with “May The Fourth Be With You“?
I’m not really familiar with Star Wars. I may have seen an episode or two over the years and occasionally catch references to things in the show.
Though not an official holiday it has become an unofficial Star Wars Holiday. It seems to be a pretty popular trend to post Yoda memes on May 4th with this saying.
“Lucasfilm, the production company behind the films, claimed the phrase was later flipped in 1978 as a way to greet others on the Fourth of July.”~ According to this NY Post Article.
On Starwars.com an article about the cultural history says that “May The 4th Be With You” is also known as Star Wars Day.
The phrase first popped up in a British political ad May 4, 1979,
‘May the force be with you,’ or ‘May the 4th be with you?’ Saturday is “Star Wars” Day, I had never before heard the term ‘space opera’ until reading this article. Again not knowing much about Star Wars but it still gave me a chuckle.
4 Lessons We Learned From Star Wars About Mental Health
May Is Mental Health Awareness Month
Throughout the month of April I participated in the April A to Z Blogging Challenge. My theme was mental health. I hope that readers who followed throughout the month gained some reminders that self care is important. That mental health is as important as physical health.
Self Care Isn’t Selfish
Create your own self-care rituals inspired by the galaxy far, far away. Whether it’s a relaxing bath with starry bath bombs, indulging in themed snacks like Wookiee cookies, or stargazing like you’re on Tatooine, find ways to treat yourself and nurture your well-being.
Just like R2-D2 and BB-8 need maintenance and recharge time, make sure to schedule regular “droid decompression” sessions for yourself. Disconnect from technology, relax, and recharge your batteries with activities you enjoy.
Start a journal inspired by Yoda’s wise teachings. Write down your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on your mental health journey. You can also jot down inspirational quotes from Star Wars characters to uplift your spirits.
Channel your inner Jedi with a lightsaber workout routine. Swing your lightsaber (or a makeshift one like a broomstick) in a safe space, imagining you’re in a lightsaber duel. Not only is it fun, but it’s also a great way to get moving and relieve stress.
May The 4th Be With You and Mindfulness
Practice mindfulness meditation as if you’re training to be a Jedi. Focus on your breath, observe your thoughts like passing starships, and let go of any negativity like a Jedi releasing their attachments.
Since its the 4th I’d like to introduce you to @crafts4rescues:
